2008 Fundraising Campaign

Last updated April 24, 2008

American Recreational Military Services (A.R.M.S), a 501 (c)(3) Public Charity

American Recreational Military Services (A.R.M.S.) was founded in 2003 by a group of grass roots volunteers who wanted to give something back to the military and their families.  In a matter of months, this small organization had grown from just a handful to more than 325 volunteers throughout the tri-state area.

A.R.M.S. continues to provide services to local armories throughout the region.  A.R.M.S. supports the area unit Family Readiness Groups, as well as providing direct assistance to family members in need.  In addition, A.R.M.S. has been working with the local military bases to address quality of life issues for soldiers and their families.

A.R.M.S. first effort was directed in soliciting donations to be packed in boxes and shipped to the troops overseas.

Since March 2003 A.R.M.S. has:

  • shipped over 200,000 lbs (20,000 boxes) of necessities to servicemen and women overseas

  • distributed 320 Thanksgiving dinner baskets

  • collected 26,250 presents for the children of mobilized soldiers

  • distributed 12,000 pre-paid calling cards

  • served 125,000 meals to troops

  • provided over $55,000 in direct financial aid to families

  • served meals & snacks to over 75,000 family members

  • raised $30,000 to send 42 soldiers home for the holidays before deployment

  • participated in over 60 Homecomings and Freedom Salutes from 2005-2007.

A.R.M.S.' goal for this year is to provide a care package for every tri-state area service member.
